Housing project of about 1100 units designed for relocating and existing community of about 5000 people in Aqaba city – Jordan, to a new environment which attempt to find solutions for the unorganized and unhealthy growth and improve the standards of living and allow the transformation to be smooth and free of trauma.
Clusters were provided to allow the human being to live in a smaller sub-community in a hierarchy that he can fully identify with, within the bigger community.
The designer types of dwelling units were drived from the findings through visits and dialogues with users of the existing deteriorated district.
The pedestrian alleys and the communal areas represent the places were all sub-communities interact in gradually increasing numbers.
Pools of open space relieve the pedestrian alleys at convenient locations providing additional local play areas as well as a local limited commercial outlet.
Green areas were provided and the whole site will be surrounded with a buffer zone of such landscape.
The divided site by 30m highway road will be connected by creating underground tunnel, the roof of the tunnel will be wide enough to accommodate part of the main central area which represents the hub of the communal activity. It comprises the commercial activity and administrative, social, educational and health services culminating the Mosque, symbolizing the supremacy of the spiritual
